(this page is pretty well up to date though) – however the accommodation can be booked through wheelwrights holiday cottages the hostel has been reduced by removal of beds and some rooms into accommodation for group rentals for up to 16 people for weekly lets. there are 2 double rooms, a twin room, a double with a day bed, a single room and a 6 bed dorm that will allow most groups and families to find accommodation to suit their needs. there are day beds and a put you up bed if the building is to be occupied by a single sex group without the need to share beds for up to 15 people. please note that the maximum occupancy is 16 people and no more! iveing cottage lake district accomodation; explore the beautiful lake district from our conveniently located and comfortable old building in ambleside. we offer affordable, comfortable self catering group accommodation for family’s, fell walkers, backpackers,cyclists, mountain bikers and travelers interested in exploring and having fun the lake district. conveniently located just four minutes from the center of ambleside, our hostel is the perfect base from which to explore the region. enjoy the lake district’s finest scenery and attractions from our location at the north end of lake windermere in ‘cumbria’ . we offer accommodation for groups, family’s and family groups. from our lodge, car or bus users will be able to access all the lake district national park . you can easily access several of the lake district’s famous lakes and fells on foot. fit cyclists will be able to reach the region’s well known attractions. easy and and testing rides if you want them . walk to the world famous windermere lake cruisers landing pier in under 10 minutes and enjoy either a lake cruise or a cruise and a walk along the lake shore. our rooms and facilities our rooms are designed and furnished for the optimum combination of comfort and affordability. relax and enjoy a deep night’s sleep in our quiet and comfortable two-bed, three-bed and six-bed rooms. we can accommodate 16 people in some reasonable comfort. all of our rooms are heated and fitted with quality carpet, underlay, some have wash basins. wifi and a great location is included. cooking facilities and relaxing our building also includes full cooking facilities in a large well appointed kitchen and a fine dining room and comfy lounge with a wood burner and tv. bedrooms and washing facilities. on the first floor accommodation is as follows; a double room, a twin room, a double room with day bed and a small snug/lounge for a quiet read or ponder. a fully tiled and fitted shower room with sink and w.c,, a further three shower rooms each with two showers (more hostel in style but good showers for a wash). there are two w.c’s on the first floor. on the second floor there is a double room, a single room and a 6 bed room (2 bunks and 2 singles) and 2 further w.c’s. plenty of facilities so you should not have too long to wait for a shower or w.c. outside there is a wash room with washing machine and tumble dryer ( and another w.c!) access statement there is parking for 3 cars (or 2 mini buses) on the premises. from the car park 2 steps down, or from the road there are 2 steps up, then from either way, 4 steps down to the entrance door (w.c. and washing facilities outside the entrance door in a wash room). entry is then through a large level lobby with coat hooks, small hand wash sink and clothes drying facilities. level entry to kitchen and through passage to dining room and stairs. step down into lounge. stairs to first floor; 6 steps up to 1/2 landing and a further 7 steps up to first floor. first floor is level and there is room for a wheel chair in all bedrooms on first floor. small step up to shower room and step into shower. each of the three twin shower rooms have steps up into the cubicles. the two w.c’s are level entry but quite small. stairs to second floor; 6 steps up to 1/2 landing and 7 further steps up to second floor. small step down into double room. single room and 6 bed room both have level entry. both w.c’s on second floor have level entry and one is quite spacious. there is a fire escape from the first floor which has 5 steps down to the exit door. from the second floor there is a fire escape with 12 steps down, a landing and then 4 more steps down into the car park level. we are very sorry but we can not easily make this place wheelchair friendly, however we have had several wheelchair users stay here in the past but it has to be said – they enjoyed a challenge!. there is also further free on street parking near iveing cottage. book your stay now enjoy one of the lake district’s most conveniently located and comfortable hostels during your next trip to this stunning part of the country for your next group or family get together. outdoor activities the hostel is a good base for outdoor activities of all types, we get youth groups, d of e award groups, mountain leader training groups, educational groups, university field trips, senior school parties, university outings and international study groups. you can set aside a small room for professor, teacher, leader accommodation and or coach drivers. there is free psv parking near the hostel and parking for up to 2 mini busses or 3 cars in the car park. budget self catering holiday let. as this building was (still is really) a very large house, it is also a good option as a large holiday let. there is a every thing you normally get in a holiday cottage except luxury facilities (we do actually now have a luxury shower room — but the rest are just good showers!). fantastic lounge, large dining room,large kitchen. having been a self catering holiday let user most of my life, i would say this is better than a lot we have stayed in!
